Labor Day

The Church Office will be closed on Labor Day (Monday, Sept 3). Our normal schedule will resume on Tuesday.

Jarod Anderson will be out of the office all next week. Please direct inquiries to Jared Altic or Joe Stude… and then we'll call Jay-rod at home! Just kidding, Jay-rod!

Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University

Financial Peace University (Dave Ramsey) classes are starting soon (Monday nights beginning Sept 10). If you are interested please contact Jared Altic or Landon R. as quickly as possible; we need to order materials this week.

UPDATE: The cost for the kit is $96.25.

MOPS Needs Your Help

The Mothers of PreSchoolers ministry at WCCC needs your help and you can help in three ways:
  1. Pray for MOPS to reach many moms for Christ.
  2. Tell any young mom you know about our MOPS group (and come to our group if you're a mother of preschoolers or an expectant mom!).
  3. Volunteer to help watch children during the meeting.

Questions? Please see Dana M. or Laura A., coordinators for the 2007-2008 MOPS year.

Mowing at Church Camp Saturday

This Saturday (Sept. 1) is our church's turn to mow at Mission Lake Christian Camp. We mow the camp grounds, weed-eat, trim trees, clear brush, and whatever else may be asked of us. We leave the church at 7am and return home by mid-afternoon.

We try to get 10-15 people every time we go but, because of scheduling conflicts, we always need new volunteers to join us in the work. If you can go with us, please contact Richard A. or Kennie G.

If we finish early, we can play a round of hand-golf before we leave for home.

Campus Christians on Sunday

This Sunday our guest speaker will be Tony Bedora from Campus Christians, a campus ministry at Kansas University.

Tony has been the campus minister with CC since last year and helped us at junior high church camp this summer. Wyandotte has supported the campus ministry at KU for several years now, but this is their first visit with us in almost five years.

You Have Mail

Don't forget that we have new mail boxes in the church office. Kennie and Mary G. built a wonderful cabinet with a large number of mail slots for our different ministries in the church. Elders, deacons, deaconesses, MOPS, the website, treasurer, library, etc. etc. all have mail boxes, many of them with mail needing to be picked up.

So if you're involved in one of those ministries please don't forget to check for mail periodically.

Church Directory Coming Soon

We're printing a new church directory soon, so if there are any address changes or new phone numbers, please try to let us know as soon as possible. This information is always changing and the old directory is now hopelessly out of date, but we'll try to get as much of the correct info as possible into your hands.

Our last directory was printed in November 2006 and we didn't print a Spring edition, so everyone is waiting for this version with baited breath. If you need an electronic copy, let us know and we'll see what we can do to accommodate you.

God bless!

T-Bones

Over 40 of us from church went to the T-Bones baseball game here in KCK yesterday. Not only was the weather good but it was a lot of fun too. The T-Bones gave away 3000 maroon T-Bones hats and, with about 5500 in attendance, most of us received one.

Thanks should go to John F., Melissa B., and Gary S. for making this happen for us. There's already talk of taking a church group again next June.

In Times of Loss

I want to thank the folks from our church family who attended the visitation and funeral last week. None of you knew the gentleman who passed away but you showed your love and support to the family by being there.

Thank you for demonstrating such a compassionate love to this grieving family in the hour of their bereavement. They were deeply moved by your presence.

-Jared
